Gary Viles is a lifelong East Tennessean with over 32 years of hands-on business experience. He spent 15 years at Viles Ford — 9 of those as General Manager, overseeing service, sales, advertising, and the full flow of the business. He then founded Viles Automotive, where he has operated for 17 years, building it from the ground up into a trusted East Tennessee business that employs local residents and invests directly back into the community.
Gary has built two brand-new facilities — one for Viles Automotive and one for Viles Ford in 2008. He understands budgets, construction, operations, and what it takes to manage growth responsibly. In business, you don't get to kick the can down the road. You study the situation, look at the numbers, and make the call that's best for the people depending on you. That's the same mindset Gary brings to District 6.
Gary is also a devoted husband, father of four, and grandfather. He understands the importance of safe neighborhoods, quality schools, and responsible growth — not as talking points, but as a parent who wants the next generation to build their lives here in East Tennessee instead of feeling forced to leave.
He believes county government should operate more like a well-run business — fiscally responsible, efficient, and accountable to taxpayers. Gary isn't a career politician. He's a problem solver who shows up, listens, and gets things done.
